The Mako Education Center is a 43,000 square foot education and training center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The design challenge was to totally transform an existing two story office and warehouse facility into a state of the art medical training center for Mako, a division of Stryker that provides robot surgical assistants for joint replacement surgery. The center was designed to host seminars and events, and it features flexible classroom spaces, simulated operating room environments, displays for state of the art robotic equipment, dining facilities and collaboration spaces along with office and support spaces. The design features a series of connected spaces located adjacent to a central atrium that create an easy to navigate experience with unique materials and design features to assist wayfinding and create a memorable experience for users.
